TEDS25 Summit Showcases Breakthroughs in Industrial Decarbonisation

The TEDS25 summit, held in Vitoria-Gasteiz on 19 and 20th of February and organized by CIC energiGUNE, brought together industry leaders, researchers, and policymakers to explore innovative solutions for decarbonising high-temperature industrial processes. A key highlight was the pilot plant at ArcelorMittal Sestao, developed under the LIFE HI4S project, which uses waste heat recovery to save energy equivalent to the consumption of over 17,000 households annually.

The event showcased cutting-edge technologies such as thermal storage, heat pumps, and solar thermal energy, emphasizing their role in reducing industrial emissions. Experts like Paul Kenny of EHPA noted that 62% of process heat could be electrified using existing heat pump technology.

Public and private sector representatives stressed the importance of collaboration and regulatory support to accelerate the energy transition. The summit concluded with a strong commitment to continue advancing clean technologies and fostering strategic partnerships for a sustainable industrial future.
