5th Consortium meeting and Pilot plant installation
The LIFE HI4S Consortium is pleased to announce that the pilot plant developed as part of the project is currently being installed at the ArcelorMittal facility in Sestao.
On the 10th of December 2024, all project partners convened at the Sestao site for a scheduled Project Consortium Committee (PCC) meeting. The visit provided an opportunity to review ongoing activities and inspect the pilot installation site—an important moment to witness the tangible outcomes of the consortium’s collaborative efforts.
This milestone represents a significant step forward in the implementation of the LIFE HI4S project. The pilot plant is designed to demonstrate the technical feasibility of recovering waste heat from hot off-gas streams, coupled with the integration of a thermal energy storage system utilizing steelmaking by-products (specifically, steel slag).
The consortium looks forward to completing the installation and entering the testing phase in the near future.
